ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: Women’s Marathon 2024

Chapter Chair Pamela Fleischmann, Vice-Chair Annika Huch and Executive Committee Member Ina Pfannschmidt with the Event roll up.

The annual ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: Women’s Marathon this year on the 8th March 2024 was a great success. The three track event with 49 talks was accompanied by coffee and lunch, sparking great conversations. The hybrid set-up allowed for in person listeners and an online audience to tune into the event.

Our Chapter Chair Pamela Fleischmann was chair of the programming Committee, together with co-chair Ina Pfannschmidt a Executive Committee Member. Our Chapter Vice Chair Annika Huch contributed largely in the organization and making sure at the event everything ran smoothly. And many members participated by sharing their stories and work.

The talks covered perspectives from tech security, over gender equality and space weather and anything in between. The talks gave insights to the workings of people from all stages of their carrier, from students and PHD-students to professors and a state commissioner. For most talks the slides can be accessed on the event page.

Thank you all for making this event possible and the speakers for sharing your stories. We’d also like to thank ACM-W for their contribution as Partner for this ACM-celebration event! More details can be found in the ACM-W Europe Blogpost about the event.
